Modern International School – Oman, proposes to establish in Oman a new school with a mission statement to ‘shape young minds to become valuable members of the global community’. The MIS – Oman Branch is committed to its diverse student body, with students from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds. Students are positive about their school and exhibit confidence and respect. Parents are overwhelmingly supportive of the school.
Modern International School- Oman will provide numerous extracurricular opportunities for students helping them develop into well rounded confident individuals.
Modern International School- Oman community, consisting of all school staff, students and their families, aims to educate, develop and nurture young people to become successful and valued citizens prepared to meet the challenges of a global society. The School aims to be an institution of excellence, dedicated to producing leaders of the future. To fulfill this, the School provides an environment in which every student discovers and realizes his or her full potential. The school should attract the best talent – students, teachers and facilitators – from all parts of India and the world, without distinction of race, religion, caste, or social status.
Throughout the school day, opportunities are provided for all students to develop confidence and become independent learners. Lessons are designed to engage and enthuse students with a flexible, challenging and relevant curriculum. The skills of teamwork, critical thinking, invention, discovery, questioning and creative expression are emphasized. Behind teaching methodologies is the aim to create life-long learners who are equipped to access further study, employment or training.
Family and community values are at the heart of the school. Students benefit both intellectually and morally through the provision of rich experiences in Oman history, culture and language. The values of self respect, the respect of others, integrity, transparency, empathy, compassion and accountability are taught and the highest behavioral standards are expected.
MIS – Oman believes that every child can learn and has the right to access education. An inclusive and personalized approach is taken to ensure all students can access the curriculum. Students with Special Educational Needs receive targeted assistance and programs are in place to challenge those who are gifted and talented.
The involvement of parents in their child’s education is vital in helping students reach their potential. The school works well in partnership with parents and provides regular information through monthly consultation evenings and newsletters. The ‘regular open house’ expects attendance of close to 100% of parents. Parents have anytime access to their child’s assessment data and program of learning via the school’s Learning Management System (LMS).
The school day is extended up to 3.30pm each day allowing time for enrichment activities and physical education. MIS – Oman also believes in extending the school beyond the confines of the school day. From grade 5 students engage in project work at home and all students have access to the LMS to review lessons and extend their learning.
